Birthday Girl Turns 24
Friday Was my Birthday. I already felt a difference this year, with the days leading up to my birthday. I was and still am looking forward to becoming 24, its like there is this fierce power inside that i have just tapped into, and i feel invincible, most sure of myself. As opposed to last year i was so afraid of hitting 23 , so depressed , this year i am welcoming the extra year as a badge of honor.
I’m not much for setting goals, but I am for being purposeful with my days.
--------------------------
Here are a few things I hope to accomplish in my 24th year of life…
1. Read more. So far, I’ve done a good job of making time for reading, and I’ve enjoyed it very much. Gotta keep it up! On my to-read list:
2. Get better at cooking and learn to enjoy it more. I’m not bad, but my repertoire is pretty slim. I’ve been blessed with a mother and sisters who love to cook and do it willingly, but I want to be able to give that back more readily.
3. Blog More
4. Watch More Project Runway
I’ve gotten back into it with this season’s All-Stars. I want to get ahold of all the old seasons to watch.
5. Take at least two (2) weekends off. Leave home and go somewhere, just because.
6. Participate in a marathon/Walkathon. Something that is physically exerting. I will worry about the physical pain afterwards.
7.Get A Professional Photo Portfolio
Get a professional photo portfolio done of yourself. In today’s time it’s so easy to take photographs and print them, why not do it professionally and have some beautiful photo’s you can hold on to for the rest of your life, and show your children and grandchildren what you looked like when you were their age.
8.Discover Your Life’s Purpose
You may think that your life sucks, and that you don’t have a purpose, but you’re wrong. There is something in this world that you were born to do, and you should do what you can to discover your life’s purpose
9.Get Your Life In Shape
Declutter, cut out bad friends, drop poor relationships. Quit doing the things you hate, break bad habits. In short, get your life in shape.
10. Save money
At the moment i spend crazy amounts of money on everything possible. Most of them going to things that i dont necessarily reap benefits from a year later much less a week later.
11.Make a habit of going outsideenjoying the light, relearning your friends, forgetting the internet.
12. Learn to say ‘no’ — to yourself.
Don’t keep wearing high heels if they hurt you, don’t keep eating if you’re disgusted by the way you feel the morning after; stop wasting entire days on your couch if you’re going to complain about missing the sun.
13. Quit that job that’s making you miserable, lose the friend whose sole purpose in life is making you feel like you’re perpetually on the verge of vomiting. You’re young, you’re resilient, there are other jobs and relationships and friends if you’re patient and open.
These are 13 things Ive thought of on the top of my head. I was aiming to have 24 things then i thought that given my schedule and having to juggle multiple things its kind of difficult at the moment. So i thought 13 would be a perfect number for me.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Winter is almost over in Abu Dhabi, It never really began to start with, And Spring is inching in. It seems the only two seasons ever to exist here are Spring (for the weather) and Summer. I Miss being in a country where all 4 seasons play out to the max. I am hoping this summer i get the chance to visit somewhere new, and meet new strangers along the way!
Something that I’ve learned over these past few years is to never let yourself slip away from ‘being you’. Many people will come into your life, some good and some bad. But from every person and every situation, you have the opportunity to learn something. Never let anyone taint you, just take your tougher times as lessons and experiences, keep your head up high and keep on moving.
Your age is not a benchmark for what the outside world considers achievement.
It is a measure of how much life you have lived.
How much you have grown.
A celebration of the gift of life. Your life.
I have felt regularly that I should have my life “figured out” by now. Many older and wiser persons have told me that I am being ridiculous, that the point of life isn’t to figure it all out, but just to live and enjoy every moment, IN the moment.
Side Note: HOWEVER after all considerations, really the main thing i want to do is to cancel the concept of Procastination from my life. I always hated it, but somehow across the last two years ive learnt to adopt it! So from this point on Procastination is DEAD to me.
Happy Birthday Me, May you always Reign!!
Much Love,
Fearless
