Don't steal moments from my memory, but with care steal years.

For some have been tortured moments, a life drama similar to stories in  Broadway theaters.

Yes, steal years.

That way the excuse of a terrible memory maybe enough to forget.

That way the lying would stop

Also, if you were to steal memories of years gone by, don't forget to steal the paths that cross too.

You would save me the trouble of losing my way into a new heartache.

Steal away what you could, alter as you please.

For the moments you keep, I try to forget anyway.
